How to Report Illegal Immigration in Southern Oregon

This guide explains, step by step, how to file a useful report of suspected illegal immigration activity with the Southern Oregon Illegal Immigration Hotline — an independent community reporting line serving Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Douglas, Curry, and Lake counties.

Step 1 — Document what you observed

The most valuable reports are specific, factual, and complete. Before filing, write down:

The date and approximate time of the activity you observed.
The location — street, intersection, business name, or landmark. An approximate location is acceptable if you don't know the exact address.
A factual description of what you witnessed: the activity itself, how many people were involved, what they were doing, and their direction of travel.
Vehicle information — make, model, and color, and the license plate only if you could read it safely.
A photograph taken at or near the location, if you were able to take one safely. Online filings require one.

Do not put yourself in danger to obtain information. Never follow, confront, or photograph anyone in a way that could escalate a situation. Your safety comes first; a partial report is always better than no report.

Step 2 — Choose how to file

Online (recommended): Use the online report intake form. It walks you through four steps — the incident, supporting details, your contact information with photographic evidence, and a final certification. Online filings receive a reference number immediately.

By phone: Call 1 (541) 555-0142 and leave a detailed voicemail. Speak slowly and clearly, and include the date, time, location, a description of the activity, and your name and callback number. Phone reports are logged the same as online filings.

Step 3 — Provide your information

This line accepts identified reports only. You will provide your full name, phone number, email address, and your preferred callback window. Anonymous reports are not accepted, because reviewers must be able to reach filers when details need clarification. Your information is handled under the operating rules of this line and is never sold, published, or redistributed.

Step 4 — Certify and submit

Review the full summary of your report before submitting, and certify that the information is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge. Submitting false or misleading information is a misuse of this line. After submission you will receive a reference number beginning with SOSP- — write it down, as it identifies your filing.

What happens after you file

Reports are logged with a timestamp and reviewed in the order received. Complete, specific, factual reports receive priority. Review timelines vary with volume; there is no guaranteed timeframe, and filers are not contacted in every case. Filing a report does not guarantee any outcome, referral, or follow-up.

Coverage area

Reports are accepted for activity observed in Jackson County (Medford, Ashland, Central Point, Eagle Point, Phoenix, Talent), Josephine County (Grants Pass), Klamath County (Klamath Falls), Douglas County (Roseburg), Curry County, and Lake County. Activity observed elsewhere in Oregon may still be reported — select "Other" in the intake form.
